Hello to All the Beautiful People of our Big Jollylook Community!

Thank you for supporting Jollylook Auto!

In our last update, we told you about our estimated plan, and we have some news to share with you...

Due to delays in China, we are a month behind, the pandemic is taking its toll.

But we are moving forward, we have ordered samples of all the parts from China, they were shipped today and are on their way to us, we expect to get them within a week, and assemble the first ten final and fully working prototypes.

We also want to share with you the good news that we have a new team member, whom we are pleased to introduce to you - Katya, she will now work with us to support our common goals, communicate with you, and answer all your messages, questions, and comments.

Introducing our updated estimated plan:

August: first batch of parts received and production started.

September: the first small batch is ready and shipment begins.

October: expansion of production and shipment of the second batch.

November: final batch ready and all awards shipped.

Please note that this is the estimated plan, not the exact plan. There is a chance of a delay and we will let you know in advance if it changes.

We're continuing to follow the plan to gradually increase production because we want to avoid mistakes and reduce the risk of any defects.

Our main goal is to make a great camera with perfect mechanics and electronics, to create a quality product that you will be satisfied with.

Of course, we'll keep you posted and show you the results of our work in the next update.

Back On Track and Manufacturing and Shipping Plan!
over 3 years ago – Sun, May 02, 2021 at 08:50:48 AM

Hello to All the Beautiful People of our Big Jollylook Community!

Thank you for backing Jollylook Auto!

We hope you all are well, staying safe, and staying healthy.

In today's reality, many things take much longer than we want, slower than expected, but we continue to move forward towards our goal.

In April we managed to finally transfer all our existing machinery and raw materials already at hand for the Jollylook Auto to our new manufacturing partner in Kyiv.

Hydraulic presses for gluing

This equipment is being installed in preparation for the commencement of manufacturing.

Unpacking and shelving raw materials

We are now in the pre-production phase:

Sergey has checked and tested the design and assembly of all the Jollylook Auto parts. He made some important changes to the design that will make the final product a lot more reliable.

Next week, right after Labor Day public holidays are over in China. We will be placing the first order for the samples of final plastic and metal parts. As soon as we receive these samples, we will do the final tests to assure everything works well. Once assured, we will place the parts order for the whole batch.

The manufacturing roadmap:

We really want to make a great camera with perfect electronics and mechanics, we'll be honest, we won't be able to ship Jollylook Auto to backers in July. We will produce the cameras gradually, starting with a very small batch and gradually increasing in volume to reduce the risk of having any defects.

Estimated plan:

May-June: receiving samples of all the parts, finalizing the assembly process, and ordering parts for the full batch.

July: first batch parts arrival and production start.

August: first small batch ready and shipping starts.

September: expanding manufacturing and shipping the second batch.

October: final batch ready and all rewards shipped.

Please note that this is the estimated plan, not the exact plan. There is a chance of a delay and we will let you know in advance if it changes.

Once again, It would have been very easy, like many businesses in Europe, to simply pull the pin and go out of business as a victim of the pandemic. We would like to assure you, we have not and we will not do that.

We are committed to the success of Jollylook Auto and to our faithful backers.

Thanks once again for your continuing support, without you, this project would not be possible, and because of you, it will succeed.

Please stay healthy and be safe.

THANK YOU!

Until next time,

The Jollylook team.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Dec 18, 2020 at 12:18:54 AM

Hello to All the Beautiful People of our Big Jollylook Community!

Thank you for backing Jollylook Auto!

We hope you all are well, staying safe, and staying healthy.

In our last update we explained how the Covid-19 pandemic had affected our operations, and the progress we had made in developing a new organizational structure and obtaining new manufacturing partners to address the issues we faced. In accordance with this plan, over the past month, we have been disassembling and packing the existing machinery and raw materials already at hand for the Jollylook Auto, in preparation for them to be transferred to our new manufacturing partner in Kyiv. After the Christmas break, this equipment will be being installed in Kyiv in preparation for the commencement of manufacturing.

We have additionally finalized all activities related to the original Jollylook Cardboard camera, with all cameras now on their way to backers or with our delivery partners awaiting shipping. This means that our small team can now focus fully on bringing the Jollylook Auto into production in 2021. While we envisage continuing disruption in Europe due to the pandemic, we are confident that the new arrangements will enable us to successfully fulfill our obligations to our backers.

December will be a slow news month due to the Christmas shutdowns by our manufacturing partners, but at our next update in January we will be providing a current status and forecast timeline for key aspects of the project in 2021.

Thanks once again for your continuing support, without you, this project would not be possible, and because of you, it will succeed.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and stay safe.

THANK YOU!

Until next year,

The Jollylook team.

Jollylook Auto - Covid-19 Update
about 4 years ago – Tue, Nov 17, 2020 at 11:03:13 PM

Hello to All the Beautiful People of our Big Jollylook Community!

We hope you and your families are all well during these difficult and unexpected times.

The past eight months have been an incredibly challenging period for companies and individuals all around the world. We have seen massive impacts on the way that we work and live and naturally, this has had a significant effect on the Jollylook business.

The reality of COVID-19 has meant that we have had to reconsider the way that we manufacture our product, as the restrictions significantly affect the ability of our small company to operate as we had planned. Additionally, the delays caused by lockdowns have affected costs considerably with the result that we needed to fully reassess our business plan if we were to be able to fulfill our obligations under the Kickstarter.

As a result, we have entered into an arrangement with a well known Kyiv based manufacturer of wooden toys and games. While outsourcing production was not our preferred option, it was necessary to ensure that the project remained viable. We have also outsourced the production of the electronic componentry within the camera to a reputable Chinese manufacturer.

This cost-saving was vital in ensuring the continuation of the project. The combination of variable COVID-19 restrictions and the outsourcing of production means that we cannot determine with certainty the expected date that cameras under the Jollylook Auto Kickstarter will start to ship. However, at this stage, we anticipate having the first cameras complete production by the end of June 2021 with shipping to commence progressively thereafter as cameras are completed.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in different ways, and in this respect co-founder Oleg Khalip has reassessed his priorities and has chosen to focus his design efforts and priorities in another direction. We all thank Oleg for his amazing contribution to this project and his incredible design for the Jollylook Auto camera. He will be missed, but his departure has no effect on the Kickstarter, as the design is now finalized and we are moving to the production phase.

So in summary here is the current situation. The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic has been significant, impacting not only the anticipated times for final delivery and the costs associated with the project, but flow-on effects of these factors have meant that we’ve had to completely reassess our entire proposed manufacturing process.

It would be very easy, like many businesses in Europe, to simply pull the pin and go out of business as a victim of the pandemic. We have not and we will not do that.

We are committed to the success of Jollylook Auto and to our faithful backers. Production costs will be very tight and this will mean that in some cases we will have to make decisions that will delay the final delivery of the camera in order to finish it at all. That said, with the decisions we’ve made with respect to outsourcing production we have put ourselves in the best place to finalize the production and deliver the product within our remaining budget.

We recognize that over the last eight months our communication with backers has been very poor. We know that this has to improve significantly and will undertake from this point to provide a regular monthly update, no matter whether the news is good or bad. We acknowledge that as our original investors you all deserve to understand exactly what is happening and the difficulties and challenges that we are facing. Hopefully, this focus on transparency will provide you with some reassurance that we are doing everything within our power to deliver on our promises.

Thanks once again for your continuing support, without you, this project would not be possible, and because of you, it will succeed.

Please stay healthy and be safe.

THANK YOU!

Until next time,

The Jollylook team.

JOLLYLOOK AUTO PRE-PRODUCTION PROGRESS AND MASK IDEA!
over 4 years ago – Wed, May 20, 2020 at 11:48:53 PM

Hello to All the Beautiful People of our Big Jollylook Community!

We hope you and your families are all well during these difficult times.

The coronavirus quarantine in Ukraine will be extended approximately until the end of June, and while our team continues to work from home, the good news is that restrictions will ease on May 22 and our team will be able to get back to the office starting next week.

Straight to the news:

All the funds that were refunded via Paypal were successfully charged via Stripe and that situation is solved.

During the quarantine, while the Chinese manufacturers were closed and as we didn't know what would happen next in this world we all live in, we searched for and successfully found alternative local contractors for the manufacturing of the molds and printed circuit boards.

The local prices are quite high, but at least we now have the option to manufacture everything except the shutter and flash locally.

Although shipping the flash samples from China took forever, we finally received the samples of the flash tubes and reflectors from the Chinese manufacturer, after testing the provided options we chose the flash tube that will work perfectly for Jollylook Auto:

Jollylook Auto flash tube and reflector

We also have good news about the development mechanism, we created additional parts and tested a solution to upgrade it, now it will not break when spinning it backwards as it used to in the old version:

The Jollylook Auto assembly instructions (for our assembling team) are fully ready and written on 37 pages, we can't share it, but here is a glance at one of the images in it:

Image from Jollylook Auto assembly instructions (for assembling team)

This is where we are in the Jollylook Auto pre-production preparation at this moment.

We will keep you updated and share more info and photos on the progress in the future updates.

An idea we would like to share with you:

Suddenly we all found ourselves in physical isolation - there were restrictions, feelings of insecurity, and anxiety.

We worry about our health and our loved ones, and we are looking for ways to make our daily travels safer. Constantly being and working at home under quarantine, Oleg wondered what he could do about that.

He decided to try to create a more reliable protection device that would be compact and durable, and here is where this search led: He made a prototype of a protective mask with additional air sterilization.

The idea of creating an individual protective mask with air sterilization with short wave UV radiation is based on the known fact of the sterilizing effect of UV radiation - according to scientific research energy absorbed by the viruses and bacteria destroys their RNA, DNA, and thus inactivates them.

Confirmed methods of air sterilization by UV radiation are long known and practically used. traditionally for these purposes, people use large and powerful irradiation devices - mercury arc and gas discharge lamps, the task of such irradiation is the treatment of large volumes of air.

New and affordable high power shortwave LEDs are now widely available, they were designed specifically for use in water and air sterilization processes.

Due to the high power concentrated in small size and volume, it is calculated that a power density sufficient enough for efficient air sterilization can be achieved in the compact size of an irradiator chamber.

Oleg took the initial data for calculation of irradiation parameters - specific power and exposure time from reference books and scientific articles.

In the design of the mask, he has included replaceable anti-aerosol filters (Npower bank95) with confirmed efficiency which will be filtering the air from aerosol particles which can be carriers of bacteria and viruses, the irradiation of air for sterilization by UV radiation will be an additional level of protection and the mask will keep high efficiency even when the UV is switched-off.

Although it is not possible to conduct detailed studies at this time, there is every reason to expect a higher level of protection than with conventional protective masks.

During the two months of isolation quarantine, Oleg developed a model, a circuit board and a prototype:

UV mask prototype
UV chamber and N95 filter case

A mask with N95 anti-spray filter and sterilization of inhaled air by two sources of UV radiation with a wavelength of 265 - 280 nm and a power of 2 W, which are designed specifically for use in processes of sterilization of water and air, the mask also has an exhalation valve on the other side that will get rid of excess wet air.

The total weight of the mask is 75 gr, and it can be powered by any external source (power bank) with a USB connector. The mask provides enhanced protection - sterilization and air filtration for several hours.

A prototype with a driver board with automatic switching on when inhaling was developed, components were selected and suitable production facilities located in Ukraine were found.

Now that the idea has been thought through, the first prototype has been manufactured and prepared for testing, your opinion is important to us.

Please share your thought with us in this small survey

Thanks once again for your continuing support, without you, this project would not be possible, and because of you, it will succeed.

Please stay healthy and be safe.

THANK YOU!

Until next time,

The Jollylook team,
